Candy Wrapper Exchange

This idea was given to me by Andrea Ploc in Austria.  Classrooms around the world will collect candy wrappers (or wrappers from other snacks or treats) and send them to Imagiverse for distribution to other participants.  The best part of this project is they get to enjoy the treats!

Students will carefully unwrap the treats so as not to tear the wrapper.  This is a wonderful activity for fine motor skills and patience.  Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to remove a candy from its wrapper, especially if you don’t want to tear the paper.

You can start on this project as soon as you wish.  The wrappers will be mailed to Imagiverse around November.  An exact deadline has not been decided on yet.  Wrappers will be mailed to Imagiverse by the deadline and Imagiverse will then distribute them to participants.  When you start working on the project, please notify the Activity Coordinator to let us know.  You will receive the mailing address, confirmation of your participation and additional instructions via email.

When you send your candy wrappers, please send an email to the Activity Coordinator, that summarizes the direction the project took in your classroom.  Countries around the world celebrate a variety of fall festivals such as Halloween or those relating to harvests, etc.  If you can incorporate festivals or holidays related to these treats in your email, that would be great!

General instructions for these emails can be found HERE.  Your letters will be posted in the Countries of the World pages under your specific location.   Please write something that will be interesting to students and their teachers as well as non-participants visiting the Imagiverse.ORG website.

We hope you enjoy our Candy Wrapper Exchange!
