FESTIVAL OF SACRIFICE IN AUSTRIA
Muslims all over the world celebrate the “Festival of Sacrifice“. People do this to remember that Ibrahim was willing to sacrifice his own son for God. The Festival of Sacrifice starts with a big congregation in a mosque and lasts for three days. Everyone dresses up in their best clothes and an animal, which is usually a sheep or a cow, is sacrificed as a symbol of Ibrahim´s sacrifice. Sometimes the meat of the sacrificed animal is given to the poor. It´s a big feast that is about spending time with your families and being thankful for food and a home. We children we love this feast because we get lots of presents like money, clothes or toys.
