GLOBAL EDUCATION IN CALIFORNIA
We are a 2nd and 3rd grade class at Mariposa Elementary School of Global Education in Agoura Hills, California. We have been studying holiday customs and traditions from around the world. Each student did a project about their own holiday traditions and have been sharing them with the class. We have some students who celebrate Hanukkah, some who celebrate Christmas and some who celebrate both. We have learned about Holland, Germany, Mexico, Israel, Thailand, India, African-American Kwanzaa and more. The students are very interested in learning about other cultures and finding the countries on the world map. Our school learns about a different continent each school year. This year we are studying Africa. We a learning about the people, animals and habitats, shelters, farming practices and government of many countries in Africa. We look forward to learning about other cultures and traditions through this project.
